Steam Generator Level Control System for Armenia NPP Unit 2 Has Been Put into Pilot Operation

The successful completion of Steam Generator Level Control System (FWCS) SAT on ANPP Unit 2 has been resulted in its putting into pilot operation.
The FWCS design and manufacture was provided on the international project on the TACIS program. The main Westron's contractor for the FWCS project is LvovORGRES.
Previously, Westron has supplied the FWCS on all Units of South-Ukraine NPP where they are successfully operating..


Zaporozye NPP Unit 3 Radiation Monitoring System Upgrade
December 21, 2006

Within the period from November 20 through December 10, installation, start-up and SAT of Zaporozye NPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) related to Zaporozye NPP Unit 3 safety train 1 were performed. The personnel of Zaporozye NPP, Westron LLC and Positron LLC have put Zaporozye NPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" RMS into operation in line with the Zaporozye NPP RMS upgrade schedules. Zaporozye NPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" RMS hardware delivery was provided on the contract concluded between Westron LLC and Atomkomplekt of NAEK "ENERGOATOM".

Zaporozye NPP Unit 2 Radiation Monitoring System Upgrade
December 21, 2006

Within the period from December 1 through December 20, installation and start-up of Zaporozye NPP Unit 2 "Vulcan-RM2" Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) related to Zaporozye NPP Unit 2 safety train 3 were performed. "Vulcan-RM2" RMS SAT was a success. The "Vulcan-RM2" RMS that provides monitoring of the radiation parameters for three Zaporozye Unit 2 safety trains has been put into pilot operation.


Zaporozye NPP Unit 1 Radiation Monitoring System Commissioning
December 22, 2006.

Zaporozye NPP Unit 1 Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) SAT commission, including the representatives of NAEK "Energoatom", Zaporozye NPP, Westron LLC, Positron LLC, "Energoprojekt" institute, "Elektromontazh-10" close corporation, and the state supervisory authorities, that was assigned by the order #777 of December 19, 2006 has made the decision on Zaporozye Unit 1 RMS commisioning.
The RMS of the new generation has been designed and manufactured by Westron. The main Westron's subcontractor is Positron enterprise. "Vulcan-RM" RMS has been designed for the replacement of the obsolete NPP RMS systems (AKRB-03, AKRB–06 and AKRB-08), extension of the RMS scope, and improvement of radiation monitoring automation, reliability and validity. "Vulcan-RM" RMS completely meets the requirements applicable for VVER and RBMK NPP RMS systems. There are capabilities for phase-by-phase replacement of the operational RMS by the "Vulcan-RM" RMS.
The RMS upgrade on the basis of "Vulcan-RM" RMS is also performed on Zaporozye NPP Units 2 and 3, Rovno NPP Units 1, 2, 3, and 4 and South-Ukraine NPP Units 1 and 2.
Zaporozhye NPP "Vulcan-RM3" Radiation Monitoring System Equipment Has Been Supplied on Site
March 20, 2006

Westron has supplied the equipment for the ZNPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) under the contract for the replacement of the obsolate ZNPP Unit 3 AKRB-03 with the "Vulcan-RM3" RMS related to the Safety System 2 radiation parameter measuring channels. The ZNPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" RMS has been supplied in conformity with the Comprehensive NPP Units Upgrade and Safety Improvement Program approved by the ministry of Ukraine. The ZNPP Unit 3 "Vulcan-RM3" putting into the commercial operation is planning during the ZNPP Unit outage 2006.


South Baghdad Thermal Power Station Unit 3 HSS FAT Has Been Completed

Westron has successfully completed FAT of the Hardware-Software System (HSS) for South Baghdad Thermal Power Station (TPS) Unit 3 Digital Control System. The HSS has been developed and manufactured by Westron on the basis of the "Vulcan-M" hardware developed by Westron.
The HSS applies the state-of-the-art industrial PC's, reliable redundant controllers that provide the Unit protections and interlocks, auto process control, as well as the direct remote control, using the operator workstation displays, and the Unit process point status display on the large monitors that on the opinion of the Customer allow to confirm that the high level HSS developed by Westron provides implementation of all TPS Digital Control System functions.
The HSS is developed jointly with the LvovORGRES (Lvov) and Energoprojekt institute (Kharkov).
The HSS systems for the South Baghdad TPS Units apply the Westron's base software integrated with the control software modules developed by LvovORGRES.
Presently, Westron is in the process of completion of the HSS manufacture for the South Baghdad TPS Unit 4.


SUNPP Unit 2 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System Has Been Supplied on South-Ukraine NPP Unit 2

Westron has supplied the SUNPP Unit 2 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System (Expert System) on SUNPP Unit 2. The SUNPP Unit 2 Expert System is developed and manufactured by Westron on the international TACIS Program. Prior to the SUNPP Unit 2 Expert System shipment on site it has successfully passed FAT.
The SUNPP Unit 2 Expert System is capable to acquire and process the Primary and Secondary chemistry and operational data, calculate the chemistry parameters when required, indicate the chemistry deviations, provide the operators with diagnosis results, and provide alarms when required.
The SUNPP Unit 2 Expert System implementation on the SUNPP Unit 2 is planning within the period of the SUNPP Unit 2 outage 2006.
In 2006, Westron will develop, manufacture and implement the Expert Systems for the SUNPP Unit 1 and Unit 3 on the international TACIS Program.


SUNPP Unit 3 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System Has Been Supplied on South-Ukraine NPP Unit 3

Westron has supplied the SUNPP Unit 3 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System (Expert System) on SUNPP Unit 3. Prior to the SUNPP Unit 3 Expert System shipment on site it has successfully passed FAT.

SUNPP Unit 3 Upper Level Computer Information System FAT
May 17, 2006

The Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the SUNPP Unit 3 Upper Level Computer Information System (phase 2 of the SUNPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade) has been successfully completed at Westron.
The phase 1 of the SUNPP Unit 3 Upper Level Computer Information System (UL CIS) upgrade, including the "Titan-2" CIS operator workplace replacement with the up-to-date workstations located on MCR, was completed within the period of the SUNPP Unit 3 outage 2005.
The phase 2 of the SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS upgrade will provide the replacement of the whole SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS within the period of the SUNPP Unit 3 outage 2006. Along with the SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS replacement, the Turbine Generator Monitoring System (A701-03) and the Low Level CIS part related to the Centralized Protections Testing functions (replacement of the three cabinets in the Safety System rooms) will be replaced with the "Vulcan-M" hardware, the SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS and KSO data link will be implemented, and the KSO maintenance and diagnostics software will be provided.


SUNPP Personnel Training on SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS Upgrade Project

Westron has provided the SUNPP personnel training to the extent necessary to assure their competence in the fundamentals of the "Vulcan" and "Vulcan-M" operation on the SUNPP Unit 3 Upper Level Computer Information System (UL CIS) upgrade project.
The SUNPP personnel training on the SUNPP Unit 3 UL CIS (phase 2) to be supplied on the SUNPP Unit 3 with the demonstration of the UL CIS functions was provided in the Westron's training center.
The SUNPP personnel have obtained the Certificates of Training.
Commissioning of SUNPP Unit 2 CIS Based on "Vulcan-CIS/SPD-2"

The integrated Computer Information System (CIS) based on the "Vulcan-CIS/SPD-2" Distributed Computer System (DCS) developed and manufactured by Westron has been put into the commercial operation on the South-Ukraine NPP Unit 2.
The CIS was put into pilot operation within the period of the outage 2005 in line with the NPP I&C upgrade schedules of NAEK "Energoatom". The shipment of the hardware components for the manufacture of the CIS Upper Level was provided on the International Nuclear Safety Program (INSP). For the manufacture of the CIS Low Level hardware, the part of the Chernobyl NPP Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) hardware was used. Some CIS Low Level subsystems are based on the Westron's commercial "Vulcan-M" hardware. The process of the SUNPP Unit 2 CIS replacement was performing simultaneously with the SUNPP Unit 2 SPDS upgrade and its integration with CIS.
The SUNPP Unit 2 CIS pilot operation has demonstrated the advanced performance characteristics of the system and its complete conformity with its technical requirements.
The metrological certification of the SUNPP Unit 2 CIS measuring channels performed during the SUNPP Unit 2 outage 2006 has certified that the accuracy of these channels meets the project accuracy requirements.


South Baghdad Thermal Power Station Unit 4 Digital Control System FAT Has Been Completed

Westron has successfully completed the South Baghdad Thermal Power Station (TPS) Unit 4 Digital Control System (DCS) FAT.
Westron has developed the TPS Unit 4 DCS jointly with LvovORGRES (Lvov) and Energoproekt institute (Kharkov). The developed TPS Unit 4 DCS provides all TPS Unit 4 DCS functions, including the protections and interlocks, the auto process control and the direct remote control using the operator workstation displays.
The TPS Unit 4 DCS is based on the state-of-the-art "Vulcan-M" hardware developed by Westron. The TPS Unit 4 DCS applies Westron's base and application software integrated with the control software modules developed by LvovORGRES.


Westron Holds Continuous Certificates of Compliance

Now Westron is the holder of the Certificates of Commercial Items Compliance with the requirements of the UkrSEPRO national certification system that are valid for two years. The manufacture examination for compliance with the requirements defined in the DSTU 3413-96 "Items Certification" and the test of the commercial item samples on their compliance with the applicable safety requirements have demonstrated that the following commercial "Vulcan"/"Vulcan-M" hardware items are worth the Certificates of Compliance.

SUNPP Unit 1 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System Has Been Supplied on SUNPP Unit 1

Westron has supplied the SUNPP Unit 1 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System (ES) on SUNPP Unit 1. Prior to the SUNPP Unit 1 ES shipment on site, it has successfully passed FAT.
It is the third ES developed and manufactured by Westron on the international TACIS Program. This year Westron has supplied the similar systems on the SUNPP Unit 2 and Unit 3.
The supplied ES's are capable to calculate the chemistry parameters when required, indicate the chemistry deviations, provide the operators with the diagnosis results, and provide alarms when required.
The SUNPP Unit 1 ES implementation on the SUNPP Unit 1 is planning within the period of the SUNPP Unit 1 outage 2006.


The Upgraded SU NPP Unit 3 Computer Information System Has Been Put Into Pilot Operation
July 21, 2006

The SU NPP Unit 3 Computer Information System (CIS) upgrade in the scope of Phase 2 has been successfully completed. The upgraded SU NPP Unit 3 CIS has been put into pilot operation.
In the process of the SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade, the complete replacement of the "Titan-2" CIS Upper Level (SM-2M) and the partial replacement of the "Titan-2" CIS Low Level, including the replacement of the part of the KSO-1 cabinets and the replacement of the A-701 Turbogenerator Monitoring System, has been provided. The CIS Low Level upgrade has been based on the "Vulcan-M" hardware developed and manufactured by Westron. The CIS Upper Level upgrade has been based on the Westinghouse "Ovation" platform.
The Phase 1 of the SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade was completed in 2005.
The SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade was provided on the project INSP WBS 1.02.03.47 "SUNPP Upper Level Computer Information Systems".
