Factory Acceptance Test of RD ACS SHC for Unit 1 at South-Ukraine NPP

Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of Reactor Department Automatic Control System (RD ACS) Software and Hardware Complex (SHC) has been successfully completed within the Westron site for the Power Unit 1 at the South-Ukraine NPP.
The software and hardware complex of the automatic control system is built on the “Vulkan-M” platform.
The RD ACS SHC is developed jointly with the LvivORGRES OJSC (Lviv, Ukraine).
Koeberg NPP (South Africa) Unit 1 and Unit 2 I&C System modernization is complete

Last weekend Unit 2 of Koeber NPP (South Africa), equipped with a new Information and Computation System (KIT), has rich its full power level. Thus the project for KIT replacement for both Koeberg Units, carried out by Westinghouse (USA) jointly with Westron, is accomplished.
The new KIT was installed to Unit 2 during last outage in April 2011. Earlier, in 2010 the new KIT has replaced the old one at Unit 1.
Both KIT systems are based on Ovation® platform. Westron scope in this project includes development of man-machine interface (MMI) and development of Periodic Test Monitoring application.
Extension of Cooperation Between Westron and Research and Development Enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash”

In accordance with the “Agreement on cooperation and partnership” between Westron and Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” and the Team–work project for the year 2011 the specialists of Westron took part in factory tests of feed system for Diesel-Generator Power Unit of Smolenskaya Atomic Power Plant effected by Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” (Saint-Petersburg).
At the same time the meeting on profound cooperation between Westron and Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” as for the project implementation of Automatic Control Systems in the Reserve Diesel-Electric Power Units was held.
Westron Has Signed a Contract on Works for Shin Kori NPP (South Korea)

Westron has signed a contract with Westinghouse (USA) on providing independent safety systems code review for units 3 and 4 of Shin Kori Nuclear Power Plant (South Korea).
Unts 3 and 4 are new APR-1400 units build by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) jointly with Westinghouse. The units are scheduled to put to operation in 2013 and 2014 correspondingly.

During the period from 2.05 to 20.05.2011 at Dukovany NPP site engineers from Westron, I&C Energo a.s. and VF a.s. successfully conducted preliminary complex tests of gateways and display devices of vent stack radiation monitoring system of Units No.1 and 2, NPP Dukovany. This equipment manufactured and supplied by Westron LLC according to the contract with I&C Energo a.s., is intended for collecting information in normal and emergency modes of units operation and its representation at the MCR’s and Radiation Monitoring Control Room. Test results confirmed the compliance of radiation monitoring equipment with technical requirements and standards. The equipment was successfully put into industrial operation.
This completes the works cycle of Westron LLC according to the contract with I&C Energo a.s. on manufacture, delivery and implementation of gateways and display devices for vent stack radiation monitoring of Power Units 1-4 of NPP Dukovany. Equipment manufactured by Westron LLC improves the safety operation of NPP Dukovany in the normal and emergency modes to the level of modern requirements.

The company management has prepared a wonderful present for the staff carrying on a tradition to celebrate the Westron Day by hiking around memorable sights – on October 1-2 the excursion to the Khortytsia Island was arranged for the staff. Four big buses with “westroners” travelled a long way from Kharkiv to Zaporizhzhia to admire the beauty of the ancient stronghold of the Cossacks.
This tour was interesting both for the young “westroners” who have recently joined the company, and the “patriarchs” of the staff.
In the Russian research and information magazine for specialists in the field of nuclear machinery, "Atomic Project" (#10, September 2011) it was published an article "Westron demonstrates its expertise and effectiveness of NPP automated control".
Rovno NPP Unit 2 Hardware and Pipes Residual Fatigue Lifetime Diagnostics System Implementation

The Start-Up and Site Acceptance Test of the System for Residual Fatigue Lifetime Diagnostics (RFLDS) of the Rovno NPP Unit 2 hardware and pipes has been successfully completed at Rovno NPP site. The RFLDS has been put into pilot operation.
The system is analogous to the RFLDS of the Rovno NPP Unit 1 that was put into operation a few months ago. The RFLDS has been designed for computerized monitoring of cumulative fatigue damages and assessment of residual fatigue lifetimes of the VVER-440/VVER-1000 reactor vessel; pressure compensator; steam generators; main coolant pipes; and other hardware of the power unit.
The RFLDS design, manufacture and supply to Ukrainian NPPs are provided by “Technostandart” Research Institute (Kharkov, Ukraine), “Gidropress” Design Bureau (Podolsk, Russia) and Westron LLC (Kharkov, Ukraine).
The similar systems for NPPs with power units VVER-1000 successfully operate at Khmelnitsky (Unit 2) and Rovno (Unit 4) NPPs since 2008.
Vulcan Hardware Delivery for “Zaporozhskaya NPP” Separate Subdivision

Westron has made delivery of Vulcan hardware within the system implementation framework of primary to secondary circuit leak operation control and damaged steam generator finding by nitrogen-16/inert radioactive gas at the Power Unit 5.
Equipment assembling, commissioning and startup and putting into operation are planned to have been finished by the end of 2011.

A stage of experimental operation of vent stack radiation monitoring information reporting and display devices equipment delivered by Westron under the contract with I&C Energo a.s. company has been successfully finished at the Dukovany NPP (Czech Republic).
I&C Energo a.s. has started disassembling of the outdated “Kalina” equipment set being exploited collaterally with the new equipment. Westron equipment has been put into industrial operation at the Dukovany NPP.

Westron has signed the contract with Westinghouse (USA) on engineering services for upgrade of the centralized computer systems (ANIS) at Units 1 and 2 of Beznau Nuclear Power Plant.
Westron’s scope of supply comprises development of the software that provides plant personnel with visual information about status and operation of plant systems.
The systems will be based on “Ovation” platform. The installation of the upgraded Beznau NPP Units 1 and 2 systems is scheduled on the years 2012 and 2013.

Connection Test of the Radiation Monitoring Systems Equipment for Dukovany NPP in Czech Republic

According to the radiation monitoring system innovation project at Dukovany NPP the connection test of radiation monitoring equipment manufactured by Westron, VF a.s. and Pyatigorsk Plant "Impulse" (Russia) successfully passed at the site of VF a.s. (Cherna Hora, Czech Republic) during the period from 08.03 to 24.03.2011. The main contractor is I&C Energo a.s. (Czech Republic).
The test results confirmed the correctness of the design decisions and radiation monitoring equipment readiness for implementation at the Dukovany NPP. The first phase of implementation is scheduled for May 2011.

Factory Acceptance Test of Signal Conditioning Panels for Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Almaraz NPP (Spain) has been successfully completed at Westron site.
The Panels are destined for decoupling of electrical signals acquired by the centralized computer system (SAMO) from safety system equipment.
Installation of the equipment at Almaraz NPP Units 1 and 2 is scheduled on the years 2011 and 2012.
Westron performs activities on development, production, tests and supply of the Panels in frame of the Contract with Westinghouse Electric Company (USA).
Installation of a new Plant Computer (SAMO) to Unit 1 of Almaraz NPP (Spain)

On July 21, 2011 Unit 1 of Almaraz NPP (Spain) has been synchronized with the national power grid. Currently the Unit is in process of increasing its power towards 100%.
Thus, the critical phase of development and installation of the new Ovation®-based Information and Computation System (SAMO) to Unit 1 is complete. The works were executed by Westinghouse (USA) jointly with Westron as part of the project of SAMO modernization for both Units of Almaraz NPP.
Westron scope in the project includes design and development of Nuclear Applications and related man-machine interface components, custom reports, system database maintenance, integration of software components, developed by other project participants, as well as design, development and supply of galvanic isolation hardware for SAMO input signals coming from the safety systems.

On September 20-22, 2011 Westron participated in the IX International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: Up-to-Date Condition and Future" in the city of Kiev.
At the exhibition within a framework of the forum, Westron has presented the platform "Vulkan/Vulkan-M" and the systems developed by Westron on the basis of this platform for the Nuclear Power Plants and the Thermal Power Plants. The automatic regulation system for the reactor block in a generating unit of the NPP was explicated there, and the work in different modes including diagnostics and system service opportunities when using was presented on it.
The presentation of Westron arose a keen interest among the visitors of the exhibition.
The representatives of Westron have participated in plenary sessions devoted to the Atomics Day and arranged by the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom" within a framework of the international forum.
